Moon Wish Ritual — make a wish by the Moon
Moon Wish Ritual — silver light ceremony
This moon wish ritual is one of the most well-known in folk magic. The Moon fulfills one cherished wish made at the right time with the right words. A silver coin serves as an offering to the Moon goddess.
How to properly make a wish by the Moon
The wish-making ceremony:
- Take a silver coin or a silver-colored coin
- Go outside or stand by an open window where you can see the Moon
- Place the coin on your open left palm — the side of the heart
- Read the spell standing, raising your left hand with the coin toward the Moon
When to make the wish
- Full Moon — for fulfillment within the lunar month
- First crescent of the waxing Moon — for long-term wishes
- Time of day: when you first see the Moon that night — the first glance at the Moon
Incantation text
This incantation originates from the Slavic folk magic tradition:
Bright Moon, full Moon, hear my plea, A humble servant speaks to thee. This silver coin to you I bring, My dearest wish I now shall sing: [speak your wish aloud] As the Moon walks her path through the sky, So my wish shall come true — by and by. Paid in silver, by Moon heard and known, Let it be as I have sown.
What to do after the reading
- Toss the coin upward, toward the Moon, and let it fall to the ground
- Do not pick the coin up — leave it as an offering
- Walk away without looking back, and do not speak of your wish to anyone until morning
Important warnings
Make only one wish at a time. It should be specific and must not harm others. The ritual belongs to the Slavic lunar tradition, where the Moon was honored as the keeper of secret wishes.
